..Extroverted.Loner..

18 10 2009

Some people will argue that being an introvert, is synonymous with wanting to be alone most of the time. This is not necessary true, in Blabelle’s experience. I have met introverted people, just that-introverted. They can interact at work, parties, they even hang out but it won’t be long before you get to know that they are introverts, there’s a side to them that you just won’t break into. But good thing is as soon as you get to know this, you get to flow with them regardless….

But an ‘introverted loner’ is…. hmmmm! very different. This is a dangerous combination if you ask me. I mean picture this: a person is an introvert, and a loner…wow! How do you possibly break through to them. Those two walls {introvert and loner} are quite high, probably with electric barbed wire at the top! Simply put: access denied before you even try anything. Now, extreme extroverts get so bothered by the ‘Introverted Loner’, because why? They {extreme extroverts} just can’t figure out how someone can afford to be and an introvert and on top of that, a loner. I hope you get my drift, huh?

So when the coin is tossed in the air and we expect a head to turn up and end up getting a tail, we are consistently surprised that we end up acting contrary to how we say we are going to act…

As being the total opposite of being an introvert, yet totally click the loner part, I must say that I am growing comfortable in my skin as being an Extroverted Loner…

Truth be told that when I am in the company of many, I do tend to both act and react in a very candid way and blend into the company with much ease…

Deep down however I would rather just be by me’self… Chilling out watching and observing whatevz is goingz on… Many times this ease of blending is mis-interpreted totally by the wannabe playa types and end up messing up my rep by thinking and saying that the BasiksDawg is a smoothe type dude who can and eventually gets chics easily….

It used to bother me loads, till I recently realised that the power of self is what is controlled in a gradual sort of way…. The power of self is what we all too cleverly attempt to ignore and just plow along like the world is making its own footsteps for you…

This power of self is what made me realise that one can both be an extrovert and a loner at the same time….

thechicdebate.BEGINS

The entire truth about guys is one and only one…

Guys like chics…

The reasons may vary, and sometimes may just dilly dally around it, but it is very simple…

Guys like chics…

Chics are crazy

Chics are soft

Chics are weird

Chics are warm

Chics are demanding

Chics are patient

Chics are fine to look at even on their bad hair days

Chics are impatient

Chics are insistent

Chics are hott

Chics are………

Anyways, you get the drift…

The main issue of this post is not circling around chics only, but the fact that the debate on chics and their emotion is one of the main movers of the earth….

You see, if chics were not as emotional as they are, guys would be on a major heart breaking spree… and that include even the nice guys…

Chics being the bag of she-motions that they are and guys being, you know, suave, collected, well-rounded, chauvinist (is it showing yet?), the meeting is usually quite a sight.

Ladies and gentlemen, in the blue corner, weighing 200 pounds of pure muscle, 3 pounds of facial hair, 6 pounds of body hair and 1 pound of undisclosed hair, with a 5-3-1 record: 5 wins (in which the ladies fell for him, hook, line and sinker), 3 losses (in which attitude-queens sent him packing) and 1 draw (in which they had ‘fun’ but didn’t exchange numbers),

I present BUBBA. (wild cheers from the guys)

In the pink corner, weighing…weight undisclosed for obvious reasons. But she’s lean, she’s mean, her body screams a three-letter appeal that the editor won’t publish. She boasts a 3-3 record. 3 wins (in which she ditched the bastards) and 3 losses (she still calls them, they never pick), I present BUBBLE. (wild cheers from the guys, the traitors)

The clash is always epic. Guy takes jab at chic.

I must admit that this time, you will have to wrap it up at Sleek’sJoint…

He has set priority on this one… so just scoot over there…

Reactionary.Issues.Outro

Oh, just scoot over to Sleek’s for the intro

——————————————–

For every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction, in physics that is…

In life, (hold your breath, get your pens, Carsozy quit licking that sugar, take the sugar bowl back), for every action, there is USUALLY an equal and opposite reaction. The USUALLY is a buffer for the various experiences the person has been in and the lessons they have learnt, or haven’t learnt. I see the blank looks (AuntiePop, don’t trip but smile at Uncle), the shifting in the seats, the reaching for the now-empty mineral water bottles… I know that only SoloDawgKing has understood.

Maybe not.

Teacher me, teacher me!!!!

Yes, lulu

Please explain…

Ok lulu, but first stop sending Carsozy notes eh?(stern look).. Pay attention!

Now, yes, whenever something happens, we react according to some template at play in our lives. This template exists, and we follow it religiously, whether consciously or unconsciously. (Mr.Slish, any sense here?)

We are nice to people because past experience has shown that this yields good results. Either that or mummy and daddy said that we should be nice. Or the Bible.

Woman takes a hiding from ‘her man’ and doesn’t do a thing because she was taught that if he loves you, he beats you. Whack theory that.

Dude steals the drugs meant for the sick and dying not because he doesn’t feel for the faceless dying people around the country but because he feels he has needs, needs that his fat salary would never be able to allow him satisfy, and most importantly, he has seen others get away with it. (Tumwi, incensing huh?)

Boda Boda guy rides like he is on heat because he feels he comes off more manly doing so and that he actually is in the right, even when he swerves right across your path. (Edgy, I hear you mate)

The receptionist acts rude because she doesn’t think highly of you and she feels you are interrupting her all-too-important game of solitaire. And she knows from experience that if she acts like there’s a stove under her seat, you’ll ask few questions and leave ASAP, tail between legs. (eddslah, where you running to?)

Taxi conductor bothers you for money every five seconds because several people have walked out without paying the fare before. And yes, even those dressed very smartly so you do not necessarily look like you have the chump change to pay the fare. (IgissRIP, is that why you bought the V-dub Bora)

He with a voice that peels paint off walls insists on singing because Jimmy, his buddy, is doing so well. And none of his friends complain when he breaks into sing-along when Mariah Carey is playing.

The template is always at work. It is tweaked by people we talk to (as they tell us their experiences and as we watch what they go through), movies we watch, books we read (and draw inspiration from the well-leafed Mills and Boon under our pillows, UG girl, must have been exchanging them with Heaven and EriqueDawg here huh!) and situations we go through.

The trickiest bit is determining which bits of our template aren’t doing us justice. The even trickier bit is smoothing out these bits that need smoothing out… (Chanel, any sense…)

You suddenly realize that you get angry too fast, then what?

You start paying closer attention to your he-motions/she-motions. You realize that you don’t take a joke about you too well. Then what? Do you start laughing at every wise crack about you?  (WalkingOnBy, I hear you smiling here)

That template…that template.

Truth of the ish remains, that the way we react can and will never be perfect, and indeed is affected by that weird sorta template…

Only ish that really matters is dealing with how that template can be altered bit by bit by allowing us to look at ourselves in a different light and then and only then do we realize that the collabo post between Sleekdawg and B2B actually makes some sense…

Only trouble is realizing it for yourself that only you can change your habits to thus change your reactions and then stop wondering why Peeps like Sleekdawg more than B2B…

Wait, that came our wrong…

———————————–

Anyways, major hola at TheSleeknessHimself for an amazing collabo mate… dude, i am a huge fan…

HonestyRules…

20 04 2009

I never used to want to own up and tell the truth except if it affected someone else… I usually would want to just chill by me’self and open up to both Momz+Dad in private without any drama… I am still the same, but because Mich’s Momz dropped me a tag-of-sorts…. (hmmn, it has been a while since that happened), I was named as a possibly honest blogger! MichieMeister’s Momz, I am duly honored to comply with your task and drop the honesties… Here we go then..

– I am a sucker for chocolate syrup

– I love my Dad/Momz/ Sista/ Brothers in a very uneek way… I haven’t said it in a while, but they know it by the way that I show it, but I will show it a lot more…

– I hate being accosted, and cornered, so to avoid that I always “attack” peeps so that they can leave a brother alone

– I love rugby, and sometimes I think if it were a drug…

– I love The Lord with all my heart, though sometimes I am hesitant in telling him, he does make you come out and tell him in some amazing way

– I love taking cold showers after an early morning jog.

– I hate one-sided opinions, because they show little thought and more self-ness.

– I still hate tele-novelas.

– I pay attention a lot more than people notice and this ticks people off because I never let anything pass me by. So much so that having arguments with me tends to irritate people a lot

– I appreciate Sunday Afternoons so much that sometimes I just wish The Lord would surprise us once every two months and just bestow upon us a stray Sunday!

– I love to listen to people trying to express their emotions, especially when they make progress

– I like the fact that when someone loves you back, it just feels so good

– I love certain types of music which allow you to listen to both the lyrics and the music at the same time (i.e. some rock music, soul music, certain RnB, and a few rap tracks)

– I am a very very light sleeper

Ok, some peeps who I would love to hear something deeper than most include Tandralicious, The_AntiPop, Apr9, Eddslah, Dante’s-Peak, Heaven, PetesMomz and Sy.

Whatchu gotta do is:

[first] You must brag about the award, like a pimp, ok?
[then] You must include the name of the blogger who bestowed the award on you and link back to the blogger
[also] You must choose a minimum of seven (7) blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.
[after that] Show their names and links and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with Honest Weblog.
[and finally] List at least ten (10) honest things about yourself. Then pass it on! Who knew this would be so much work!.

Hoping that your weeks are smiley

The money of taste…

17 03 2009

We used to hang out a lot way back in school…

We was always jazzing about hip hop, gospel music, beautiful girls, even nt beautiful girls, nice curves on girls, the coolest things about being a guy, nice attitude, certain religious sentiments, new timbalands, the new ish by Tommy Hilfiger, also about the newest HumVee that would make us say Damn!, new movies, older movies, family, and yeah, a tonne of things that you jazz about when you are between the ages of 15 and 25….

We was always waiting for the day(s) that we would be able to head straight to that nice shop (Wina Classic), and pay crisp (say it with me, ker-risspp-aagh) new mutwalos for that brand new Oscar de la Renta suit… even better the new shoes by emmanuel ungaro, or the suede mocassins by stacey adams

We never really took the trouble to notice that some people actually were not too bothered by the price tag… but actually bothered by the durability, and the comfort of the ish

We always wanted to know how much the ish cost, and to that effect, we were always side tracked and instead of asking where we got it, we would ask how much it cost…

He has steadily moved up a few notches and recently bought himself a new ride… Previously, yes he was driving, but the money is coming in a tad bit faster, and coz of this well… he sometimes feels the urge to splurge… (no, I won’t notice the rhyme) So when I told him that this ride suited him better than the old(er) one, he tripped by saying…

“Yo Basiks, it’s the money dawg”

I retorted, “playa, it ain’t the money playa, it is the fact that you have acquired better taste”,

“dawg, acquired” i reiterated….

“And that is why these days, you don’t eat lunch at whats-that-place, but head to WHATS~THAT~PLACE, and instead allow youself to wear a lot more expensive shoes than before, spend more on MsHottStuff, and ….”

He tripped by saying, “dawg, it still comes back to the money”

And I silenced him, by asking him, “how many rich people do you know, don’t know what compliments them?”

He just asked me to get the bill, and then we split…

He needs to do something about his attitude, though deep down I knew he had seen the Basiks point of view…. (sorry tandra, I know you don’t like it when I say it this way, but for today, WHATEVR!!!!)

From then on, me and my hommie learned that yeah, money does make your shyte a bit more pricier, but in all honesty, good taste beats expensive shyte on any day!…

hiprocksoul

22 01 2009

Growing up as a youngster, I was influenced a lot by what my parents used to listen to…

Playas like ABBA, BoneyM, and such acts as talented as rare as Amazulu were always amusing to listen to… (ok, ABBA are not playas)

You see as a young boy with very hip parents, the record collection was always going to be a way to check out their tastes…

Of course Michael Jackson’s Thriller album, Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut album as well as Lionel Richie, Billy Ocean and acts such as Mel&Kim, ThePolice, and classics like the~man~himself Bob Marley and the Wailers always stand out…

If you can remember acts like Starship, The Jets, Dione Warwick, Stevie Wonder, and Prince, then you might be able to keep up a musical conversation with me, my sister or our parents on a late Friday evening when we are doing their old skool reminisce…

As I grew older however, it became more and more evident that I needed to find and tune my ear to my own musical tastes…

In the late 90s emerged a form of musik that was based on the late 80s type of musik…

Groups like New-Edition, Shalama, NewKidsOnTheBlock and even individual acts like Kylie Minogue and Madonna were a huge huge influence on my musical drama-tisti-kal listening..

You see, every year around about the birthday times my momz+pops would take that special interest in making sure that they buy us a present that would include a tape (cassette tape that is Princess) which would surely be of the hottest artist on the TV and radio

When Hammer couldn’t touch this, we were slowly but surely waiting for the tradition to keep rolling on, until Momz turned up with Vanilla Ice’s BabyBabyIce, or was it IceIceBaby, alright stop????

And when Momz dropped BlackBox’s everybody for my sister, we was surely tearing up the house with our classic Toshiba Radio….

When me and my sister attended boarding schools, we were sorta kept outta touch with the goings on in the musik world, as her school was not in the habit of allowing young students like herself to entertain themselves instead of reading books in the school library. But as well all know, there is always that smooth and uneek person who always has the hook up with the stuff that is in red ink in the school rule book…

Her friends Babs&Eva were (and still are) amongst the most uneek sistaz I ever met…

Always turning up at home with videos of the newest and latest joints that we had heard on the radio and not even thought about on the television… You see back in the day, MTv was a privilege of the heavy-laden… aka the Babs type chics of this world, but lucky for some of us we were in the right circles by association…

Anyways, that was about the time that Shaggy was just smarting from jumping ship after him and General Schwarzkopf had a fallen out and he interested us with his excerpts of Oh Carolina. And the bombastic-ness was formed…

I at the time was hooking up with Jeff…. Jeff you see was (and still is) that chap who will always have the hook-up… you don’t believe me… Jeff had a SEGA Mega Drive even before we had seen it at the Duty Free, Jeff was bootlegging Steve Harvey before it was even on TV, and he even had underground rap recordings of MC Hammer featuring the west coast ni99az….

Jeff introduced me to Gangsta Rap… I didn’t even know what it was till I was so far gone…

Ice Cube, EazyE, Dr.Dre, and the entire Dogg Pound Crew were the way to go… Playa, I didn’t even bother with all the Shabba Ranks type German Dish Crappy Hair cuts, I was the real deal and was scoping out checked shirts and sagging jeans way before my Momz and Pops could understand nada….

I even still have Dr. Dre’s murderous The Chronic album!!!

That paved the way for my foray into listening to Hip Hop! I dabbled with peeps like Lords of the Underground (ticktock this is how we rock) , Da Yangstaz,(hiphopride and then some), NaughtyByNature….. and treacherous Treach doing his thing…. Cypress Hill and of course EnteringTheWu…..

I am telling you by the time Sean Puffy Combs and the one BiggieSmallz were blazing Juicy and shyte, I was already down with Tupac and his wessssyde (for you Kay and Jay)

I do have to give an honorable mention to Nasty Nas for his 5mic efforts on It was written and obviously Illlllllllll-matic….

For those of you not in the know of the whole 5 mics and shyte, ask Iwaya….

By the time I was finishing up my O’levels, I was so deep into the entire Poetry and shyte-ness associated with Hip Hop, I was just slowing down on RnB…

You see, acts like Brownstone, Jade, and En Vogue will always be a deep listen for me…. Don’t believe me, remember 5miles to empty, and kiss and tell by brownstone… what about don’t let go by EnVogue, and obviously everyday of the week by Jade…

Looking back at the master RnB acts, TLC were always on point…. they managed to come together and put up some really interesting tracks, like ain’t too proud to beg…. and of course the delicious, redlight special…

The re-entry of New Edition was welcomed with huge hand claps, and yes they were on point…

As you can see that by the time Dru Hill came to try and trounce BoyzIIMen, they were not really as excellent, but they did have some amazingly well written tracks…. seriously, don’t believe me….. How deep is your love, somebody’s sleeping in my bed, and the remix done by Dupri was on fire….

Man, I am failing to keep up with all the tracks in my head…

Anyways, RnB was and still is a dope list on my collection… I have joints like Anthony Hamilton, Gerald Levert (RIP), Keith Sweat, and yeah Johnny Gill..

As you can see, I was (am) a real RnB lover…

By the time I bumped into ColdPlay, and Alannis’ drama…. I was pretty skeptical and practically used to switch off the radio whenever a rock track would play!

But somehow, with the intervention of a one Rick Dees, on a certain repetitive music playing radio station, I managed to ease into potentials like 3DoorsDown, and Puddle of Mudd….. when I joined Uni, I had the hook up so badly coz Jeff had introduced me to his cronies….

Jeff somehow knew (and still does) someone who had stuff which he needed…

I had the Linkin Park joint before “in-the-end” was banging on the radio…

The hybrid theory really did mess up a few of my cronies, and when we got Dido in full effect, we were blazing really high… groups like Vertical Horizon, matchbox20, and even U2 somehow made into my collectibles….

I am still a hiprocksoul listener, and now I must admit that my musical taste has been refined a little bit to include the likes of some jazz peeps like Jonathan Butler…

The entire journey though must have some neo-soulites like Musiqsoulchild, Jilly from Philly JillScott, flo-etry, Badu…. Jaheim and yeah Sade….

I am hustling with a few words, but believe me, numerous artists are missing from this list, but hey…. help the basikness and add one or two of them in the comments…

Val, i know you’ve waited for this…

Capability-wise

22 11 2008

You ever noticed to both you and your inner self that you would rather go the easy way out…

Seriously…

Take a look at the available scenarios…

Take a walk out for lunch, or stay and cook it indoors yourself and then tidy up and do the dishes…/ Wash the car yourself or just have Mr.B2B drive it up to the car wash and have it waxed to that heavenly shine…/ Think of a new place to take Mrs.B2B out or just head to that dinghy digs that makes her eyes light up… in both appreciation and disappointment!! / How about starting to write out that 6 months anticipated budget of expenditure or just get the money and give it to the chaps down at the Investment Firm…/ What about walking up that fine a** shawtie and asking her name or just chilling with whats~her~name’s boring boring fine a** cousin?/ Oh, then there’s checking out that new job in the papers (or online) which has the name Basix (or you too AuntiePop) written all over it, and then imagining all the hustle that you are going through right now…

We never know how much we are really capable of, until you look back and look at all the mountains that you have scaled in a single bound, or even the time when you watched the entire season 5 of Twenty~Four in a single day……and then when you saved all that moolah, by not going to fancy joint A, but chilling at dinghy joint B and investing them savings just to see the returns are amazing…

I remember the time when I had to re-do my A’ levels, I thought of all the late nights that I had spent in the library which had no returns, and what I would have to go through all over again….

I just changed the game and switched all around like a true playa was supposed to them days and then upped the anti… got the necessary marks and went on to play hard at the correct levels…

Looking back like the SoloDawgKing has been doing allows you to check your errors and focus a lot on your key points, and make sure that it always gets better…

I’m heading out just like Tumwi for a few, something to do with time-off/ reading/ writing

Hola at you on the flip side…

I wonder what the Mrs. will suggest…
