Coming back to blogger huh| Information overload | relevance

Un-interested at times at more often than not ~>>really indifferent.

Words, texts, pictures and at best useless pieces of unnecessarily mentioned lyrics of our lives that we seemingly feel the need to share at the simplest awakening.

So begins my extremely rare rant.

One of some form of disdain and repugnance at the volumes of material that is being spewed at any keen reader nowadays. What is the worst thing about it is not that it is not selectively chosen for you, but the fact that it is actually selectively chosen for you. Trends analysis is the money spinner on the internet of things now. We all seem to revolve around knowing possibly the latest piece of information about something without being able to relate it to your current situation. Being relevant in a conversation still holds water in some parts of the world, but alternately so does it not overly make you be known as someone wiser, but only be seen to be wiser.

In my quickness to give an unequivocal barrage on how the information superhighway has elected to dictate what we secretly want by using exquisitely fathomed algorithms that at the speed of light rotate #back_and_forth (shout out to Aaliyah RIP) and bring you items you are most likely to click so as to make it easier for you to seek out what you find and thus increase your trustability of the aforementioned algorithms at play, I have realised that I should go ahead and relax and lessen my deep-seated detestation of having too much information and appreciate its usefulness.

Knowing that Janet Jackson turned 50 this year may not enhance my teenage wishes of her singing to me her raunchy song “if”. But knowing how she wakes up early every morning to hit the gym when on and off tour are a deep sign of respect from me to her knowing that she is always trying to stay both in and ahead of the game by keeping physically fit.

Knowing that a consultant’s appreciation of Google as a search engine and an effortless communicator of all things relevant and irrelevant enhances my belief in the if you want something, you need to go out and get it mantra.

So let me calm my seething mind down and not only appreciate that the information overload is indeed that, but is also a chance to increase my patience and learn to filter through things that interest me with a lot more ease than heading to the public library. If not delegate it to the team.

Just Right

28 04 2011

A year or two ago, Queen Lah acted in a movie named Just Right. Yeah, so what??? You might ask if you are not an afficionado of Queen Lah and her career as an entertainer. So in this movie, Queen is a masseuse or sorts for the stars, basketball stars that is. When I say masseuse, I mean she is a physical therapist of sorts for those chaps whose ankles and other body parts are insured for at least 6 figures in the American currency.

She likes this dude, [played by Common-Sense the r(w)apper) and] he is a star player on his team hustling to make the playoffs then he injures his knee mid-season!

I am hard-pressed not to drop the remainder of the plot as I am a story-teller on the B2B-joint. If you want to catch the movie, hola at Mr. Soft aka EddieSoft… he has that shyte all on lock-down!

Now, not to take anything away from Queen Lah and her performance in a lead role, the title of this post bears some credence to the movie JustRight. A couple of years ago before I hooked up with TheHottness, I used to think that being with a girl (woman to some) was such a big deal. Every dude I looked at was covered in all the basics in terms of a car, a dope job, and always had time for his own Hottness.

Little did I know that when my time came, I was also being looked at the chap who had it all together with a decent gig, a hot chic, and a cool ride as well…

As someone in the deal, and learning that time is a constant yet scarce commodity that attracts the highest yield for those who value it most, I have come to realize that the times that we do cherish and appreciate the most are the ones that we are squeezed out of nothing!

These nothing to something ones are talked about so much so, that whenever you remember them, you take the time to even sail away back to the time when you were actually in the deal. These are the ones that cross your mind more often than not, and teach you to make opportunities out of nothing!

Getting a tad bit emotional huh!

Been a while…

Thanks Sunshine!

The finished product

26 10 2010

This is always seen as an item that we are spending money on especially since it is EYE who has earned the money and EYE should expect more value than what i pay for…

This sentence came about a few months ago when i had lost my specific blogging keyboard and i was in the middle of a discussion with one of our private initiative clients.

“You see Basiks,” Q started

“the truth about the hustle is that no one ever knows or actually sees you are hustling…”

“most people are only interested in you when you begin to make progres”

Truth be told, Me and Q-man go a long long way back.

We was tight buddies at primary school and when he used to come home to play Super Mario Brothers on the Nintendo NES, and hanging out at their new homes whenever his politically pimped dad was given free-reign to check out some dope properties…

So, when Q and EYE were having the laid back one on one discussion about the process of success, we never tried to take anything for granted when we were trying to know-tice the uneek set of difference that exist between us and the more energized and successful people.

My Uncle Iggy, who i could say is your typical leave school, get a job, get married and have kids type man, recently finished his MBA at the grand age of 50 and realised what the whole world was on about making hay while the sun shines, and the opportunities that have fallen into his lap at his age are astounding…

He feels that successful people should be a case study in the real world because there is always something that pushes them on, that unexplainable will to try once more… and overlook the small failure that just seemed to cause a blip in the progress meter…

The finished product never allows you to see the actual goings on, and this thus will always be a curse in the actual process…

Too hard to call it…

16 07 2010

Sometimes when you are given an option, as a man you are blessed with the cognisance to discern the wheat from the chaff. The ability to take a closer look at make a decision that may piss off few and validate more. The time it takes to reach here is what many people like to term as the learning curve also known as experience!

Now once in a while we are taken aback when the Big Man upstairs decides to humour you in his all so mighty way and show you that being a mortal does have perks but only mortal perks…

Y’see when Alfred showed up at our digs early the other morning with some sad shyte about Angela passing…

It was just one of those moments when you know that you just can’t call it….

You just can’t…

RIP: Angela Namara

It is never our call….

The delicate balance

13 05 2010

The title above may not make sense if you are not fully involved in organising your life. I do not mean the usual waking up type drama, making yourself presentable and going to the office for the 9-5 and then heading back home to ease out of the drama called life….

What I mean here is when you are actively getting tired of things not going your way and you stop reacting to how things seem to be going.

You take a deep look at how things are and you make mental and actual written notes on how you want things to actually be.

You basically ACT!

Now the entire ACTing strategy is always frowned upon in real time…

Before you say I am ACTing too basic, hear me out… (You too Tumwi, even though you seem to hate the keyboard nowadays)… Your paycheque ain’t shyte… It never lasts more than 7 days! You never see your close hommies and homegirls… You miss all your favourite shows on TV, and the huge sports games you jotted down on the calendar, and TheHotness is always complaining that you don’t seem to have time for her…

Now with that basis, allow me to go deeper into the difficulties of the delicate balance..

You leave home early coz you want to reach the work place early and get deep into some project waaay before the regular office chatterboxes get in!

When you do so, TheHotness complains that you do not want to pay attention to her in the mornings

You want to watch spend some cash on yourself, but you ain’t got any left over transfer earnings (simple economics) so you do your budget analysis and then you realise that you owe more than you have coming in!

You head to watch the slamming rugger game, and you meet up with a bunch of chaps who feel that you spend too much time with TheHotness…

You get tired of all this drama, and you endeavour to ACT on it!

This necessitates taking a long hard look at yourself and wondering what really in life is worth living for!

Is it you!

Is it the chill?

Is it the work?

Is it Little Man and Sweet Angel!

Is it TheHotness herself

When you finally do get to this point is when the delicate balance actually begins!

This is when you realise that all the other realisations that you came up with a few years ago do not make no sense unless you take the deep thought process and stop doing whatever it is that you do not want to do, stop chatting about what it is you want to do and just start doing it!

live like we’re dying…

14 01 2010

Sometimes we fall down and can’t get back up/ We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough
How come we don’t say I love you enough/ Till it’s to late, it’s not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come/ We could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all staring down the barrel of a gun/ So if your life flashed before you
What would you wish you would’ve done

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here/ This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’/ Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away/ We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say/ Gotta

Live like we’re dying

And if your plane fell out of the skies/ Who would you call with your last goodbyes
Should be so careful who we live out our lives/ So when we long for absolution
There’ll no one on the line

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here/ This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’/ Gotta

Live like we’re dying

We never know a good thing till it’s gone/ You never see a crash until it’s head on
All those people right when we’re dead wrong/ You never know a good thing till it’s gone

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here/ This is all we got and we gotta start livin it

Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’/ Gotta

Live like we’re dying

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away/ We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say/ Gotta

Live like we’re dying
